It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, sent a total of eight thousand Prophets: four thousand of them were sent specifically to the Children of Israel, while the remaining four thousand Prophets (peace be upon them) were sent for the guidance of all the other people of the world."
In the chain of this narration in Musnad Abi Ya'la, both narrators Yazid bin Aban al-Raqashi and Musa bin Ubaydah al-Rabadhi are da'if (weak), on account of which this hadith is weak and defective (ma'lul) in its chain.
