حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، وَفَهْدٌ ، قَالَا : ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، ثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : شَهِدْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : الشِّرْكُ فِيكُمْ أَخْفَى مِنْ دَبِيبِ النَّمْلِ ... الْحَدِيثَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I was myself present with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrated this hadith to me from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shirk (polytheism, in its traces) among you is more hidden and concealed than the sound of an ant creeping."
Takhrij and grading: Al-Bukhari recorded this hadith in al-Adab al-Mufrad (716), and al-Albani declared it sahih li-ghayrihi (authentic due to supporting evidence).
