قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، ثَنَا مَعْرُوفُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنِ ( ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ) ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِذَا انْفَلَتَتْ دَابَّةُ أَحَدِكُمْ بِأَرْضٍ ( فَلَاةٍ ) فَلْيُنَادِ : يَا عِبَادَ اللهِ احْبِسُوا ، يَا عِبَادَ اللهِ احْبِسُوا ، فَإِنَّ لِلهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى فِي الْأَرْضِ حَاضِرًا سَيَحْبِسُهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the animal or riding mount of any of you breaks loose and runs off in a wilderness or barren plain, let him call out in these words: 'Ya 'ibad Allah ihbisu, ya 'ibad Allah ihbisu' (O servants of Allah, stop it! O servants of Allah, catch it!), for in the earth Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, has ever-present beings who will soon stop it."
Imam Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili narrated this hadith in his Musnad. The hadith scholars declared it weak because the narrator Ma'ruf bin Hassan is alone in its chain; however, Imam al-Nawawi and other senior scholars accepted it in the chapter of virtuous deeds and adhkar.
