It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever, on waking, when Allah Almighty has returned his soul to him, says these words: 'La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahu al-mulku wa lahu al-hamd, bi-yadihi al-khayr, wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir' (There is no god worthy of worship except Allah, alone, He has no partner; to Him belongs the dominion of the universe and to Him alone belongs all praise; all good is in His hand of power, and He has perfect power over all things), his sins are forgiven, even if they are as abundant as the foam of the sea."
I (Ibn Hajar) say: Its chain is weak because of Ishaq (bin Abi Farwah). Imam Ibn al-Sunni recorded it in his book 'Amal al-Yawm wa al-Laylah' through Isma'il bin Ayyash, from Muhammad bin Ishaq, from Musa bin Wardan. My view is that Isma'il made an error in stating this chain; in reality it is the hadith of Ishaq bin Abi Farwah, and Allah knows best.
