وَقَالَ عَبْدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ هُوَ ابْنُ هَارُونَ ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَيْسٌ الْمَاصِرُ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ الْبَصْرِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ لِكُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ ذَنْبًا قَدِ اعْتَادَهُ الْفَيْنَةَ بَعْدَ الْفَيْنَةِ ، أَوْ ذَنْبًا لَيْسَ بِتَارِكِهِ حَتَّى يَمُوتَ ، أَوْ تَقُومَ عَلَيْهِ السَّاعَةُ ، إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ خُلِقَ مُذْنِبًا مُفَتَّنًا خَطَّاءً نَسِيًّا ، فَإِنْ ذُكِّرَ ذَكَرَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, every believer has some sin to which he has become accustomed from time to time, or a sin which he does not give up until his death or until the Hour is established upon him. The truth is that the believer has been created such that he falls into trial, makes mistakes abundantly and forgets very much; but when he is admonished, he takes heed."
Takhrij and grading: Imam al-Tabarani narrated this hadith in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and Allamah al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) declared it sahih (authentic) in Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah.
