It is narrated from Yunus bin Jubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: We accompanied Sayyiduna Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) as far as the place Hisn al-Mukatab to see him off, and we requested him to give us some advice, upon which he said: "Hold fast to the Noble Qur'an, for it is the light of the dark night and the guidance of the day. Act upon its commands in every circumstance, even if you face hardship, poverty and want. Then, if some trial or calamity befalls you, offer your wealth to protect your life (that is, sacrifice your wealth); and if the trial goes even beyond that, sacrifice both your wealth and your life for the safety of your religion. For in reality the deprived and unfortunate one is he who has been deprived of his religion, and the truly plundered one is he whose religion has been snatched away. Know well that there is no use in riches and wealth whose end is the Fire of Hell, and there is no harm at all in poverty and hardship whose reward is Paradise. Indeed, Hell is a place whose prisoner will never be released and whose needy one will never become rich and comfortable."
This narration is sahih and mawquf.
