وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَوْنٍ ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ، عَنْ زَيْدٍ الْعَمِّيِّ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ الْعَبْدِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : فَضْلُ الْعَالِمِ عَلَى الْعَابِدِ كَفَضْلِي عَلَى أُمَّتِي .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The virtue and superiority of a scholar over a worshipper (one occupied merely with voluntary worship) is like my virtue over my whole Ummah."
