It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Of the things worshipped beneath the shade of the sky, there is nothing more hateful and displeasing to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, than a desire of the self that is blindly followed."
The chain of this report contains abandoned (matruk) and lying narrators such as al-Hasan bin Dinar and al-Khasib bin Jahdar; for this reason the hadith scholars have declared it severely weak or fabricated.
