It is narrated from Sayyiduna Attab bin Shumayr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! My father is a very old man and I also have some brothers. Shall I go to them, in the hope that they may accept Islam and I may bring them to you?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If they accept Islam, that is pure good for them; and if they refuse, then (do not be troubled, for) Islam is very broad and wide."
Imam Ibn Abi Shaybah recorded this hadith in al-Musannaf; there is disagreement over whether Mujamma' bin Attab in its chain heard from his father, though the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
