وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ زَحْرٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : اللهَ اللهَ فِي مِلْكِ أَيْمَانِكُمْ ، أَشْبِعُوا بُطُونَهُمْ ، وَاكْسُوا ظُهُورَهُمْ ، وَأَلِينُوا لَهُمُ الْقَوْلَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fear Allah, fear Allah, regarding those under your authority (your slaves and servants): fill their stomachs (that is, feed them until they are full), clothe their bodies, and be gentle with them in speech."
Abu Ya'la narrated it in his Musnad. Its chain has weakness on account of the narrators Ali bin Yazid al-Alhani and Ubaydullah bin Zahr; however, other supporting narrations of the hadith are found in the books of Sunan.
