It is narrated from Sayyidah Jamrah al-Hanzaliyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: "I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with the camels of charity, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his blessed hand over my head and supplicated for goodness and blessing for me."
Abu Ma'mar said: "In this hadith there is mention of passing the hand over the head of a woman, because she had come with the camels of charity, and so she must have been an adult." I (the author) say: This restriction (the assumption that she could only have been an adult) is not correct, for there is nothing to prevent her having brought the camels while she was a discerning girl (having reached the age of discernment), while the responsibility for guarding and grazing them lay with other servants. And it is possible that her father sent her only so that she would attain blessing through the supplication of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and that he had no son; and so his purpose was fulfilled.
