It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Allah Almighty has divided the intellect into three parts; so the person in whom these three qualities are present, his intellect will be complete, and the one in whom these qualities are not present has no intellect (worth considering): attaining the best knowledge and recognition of Allah Almighty, rendering Him the best obedience and submission, and showing the best patience over His command and decree."
The chain of this hadith contains Abbad bin Kathir al-Basri, who is matruk al-hadith (abandoned in hadith). Imam Ibn Abi al-Dunya recorded it in his book 'al-Aql wa Fadluh', and this report is very weak in its chain.
