It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The real foundation of a person's character and the true stability of his life is his intellect, and the one who has no intellect and understanding has no religion worth considering."
Takhrij and grading: Imam Ibn Adi recorded this report in "al-Kamil fi Du'afa' al-Rijal" and al-Khatib al-Baghdadi in "Tarikh Baghdad"; however, its chain has been declared by the hadith scholars to be extremely weak or fabricated (mawdu') because of narrators such as Dawud bin al-Muhabbar and Nasr bin Tarif.
