It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, a man, by virtue of his good character, attains the rank of one who fasts much and is humbly obedient (in worship). And a person's good character does not reach completion until his intellect becomes complete; so when his intellect is complete, at that very time his trustworthiness and his faith also reach perfection. In that state he obeys his Lord and disobeys his enemy, Iblis."
Takhrij and grading: The chain of this report is very weak, because its narrator Muqatil bin Sulayman is matruk (abandoned) and a liar. Imam al-Bayhaqi recorded it in 'Shu'ab al-Iman' (8000), and Ibn Abi al-Dunya in 'al-Aql wa Fadluh' (14).
