It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O Abu Ayyub, shall I not tell you of a charity by the doing of which Allah and His Messenger are pleased?" He said: Yes, certainly, tell me. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When corruption and discord arise among people, bringing about peace and reconciliation between them, and when distance arises between them, bringing them close to one another (is the best charity)."
In the narration of Imam Ibn Abi Shaybah it is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Shall I not tell you of the charity which Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) love? It is that when mutual hatred, enmity and discord arise among people, you make peace and harmony between them."
Imam Abd bin Humayd also narrated it in the same way through his own chain.
