وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ جَمِيعًا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " خَيْرُ مَا أُعْطِيَ الرَّجُلُ الْمُؤْمِنُ خُلُقٌ حَسَنٌ ، وَشَرُّ مَا أُعْطِيَ الرَّجُلُ قَلْبُ سُوءٍ فِي صُورَةٍ حَسَنَةٍ " .
2574 \ 2 - وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ مِثْلَهُ ، وَزَادَ : " وَانْظُرْ مَا يَكْرَهُ أَنْ يَرَاهُ النَّاسُ فِي بَيْتِكَ إِذَا عَمِلْتَهُ فَلَا تَعْمَلْهُ " .
2574 \ 2 - وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ مِثْلَهُ ، وَزَادَ : " وَانْظُرْ مَا يَكْرَهُ أَنْ يَرَاهُ النَّاسُ فِي بَيْتِكَ إِذَا عَمِلْتَهُ فَلَا تَعْمَلْهُ " .
It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) of the tribe of Juhaynah that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best thing given to a believing servant is good character, and the worst thing given to a person is a bad heart hidden behind a handsome exterior."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded in his narration the addition that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And whatever deed you would dislike people to see you doing in your house, do not (ever) do such a deed."
