Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 2569-1 — Good character
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى الْكِلَابِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ الْحَبْحَابِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَكْمَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِيمَانًا أَحَاسِنُهُمْ خُلُقًا ، وَإِنَّ حُسْنَ الْخُلُقِ لَيَبْلُغُ دَرَجَةَ الصَّوْمِ وَالصَّلَاةِ " .
2569 \ 2 - وَقَالَ الْبَزَّارُ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى بِهِ .
2569 \ 3 - وَحَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ فِرْغَامٍ الْقَيْسِيُّ ، عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا بِهِ .
وَقَالَ : لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ هَكَذَا إِلَّا زَكَرِيَّا .
2569 \ 2 - وَقَالَ الْبَزَّارُ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى بِهِ .
2569 \ 3 - وَحَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ فِرْغَامٍ الْقَيْسِيُّ ، عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا بِهِ .
وَقَالَ : لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ هَكَذَا إِلَّا زَكَرِيَّا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The most complete of the believers in faith are those who are best of them in character, and indeed good character brings (a servant) to the rank of fasting and prayer."
Imam al-Bazzar (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Muhammad bin al-Muthanna also narrated this hadith to us with the same chain.
And Wahb bin Yahya bin Firgham al-Qaysi narrated this report to us likewise through Zakariyya; Imam al-Bazzar also said that, to our knowledge, no one other than Zakariyya narrated it in this way (with these chains and words).
Imam al-Bazzar (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Muhammad bin al-Muthanna also narrated this hadith to us with the same chain.
