It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was somewhat late in giving the adhan, so another man gave the adhan. Then when Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came and wanted to give the iqamah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who gave the adhan is the one who will give the iqamah."
Takhrij and grading: Imam Abd bin Humayd recorded this narration in his Musnad (247), and it is also narrated in Sunan Abi Dawud (514) and Jami' al-Tirmidhi (199); however, because of the weakness of Sa'id bin Muhammad al-Sammak in its chain, this narration has been declared da'if (weak) by the scholars.
