Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 230 — Calling the adhan before Fajr in Ramadan

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I gave the adhan at night (that is, before the time of Fajr), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'You have stopped the people from eating and drinking. Go, climb to a high place and call out: Beware! Indeed (this) servant (of Allah) had fallen asleep (because of which the time could not be judged correctly).'" Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I set off (out of remorse for this slip of mine) saying: "Layta Bilalan lam talidhu ummuhu wa-btalla min nadhi damin jabinuh (Would that Bilal's mother had never given birth to him, and that his forehead had been drenched with splashes of blood)." Then I called out loudly three times: "Take heed! Indeed (this) servant (of Allah) had fallen asleep."
This chain is da'if (weak), and there is a break (inqita') in it (a break in the chain of narration).
