وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَنِ اسْتَعْمَلَ رَجُلًا عَلَى عِصَابَةٍ وَفِي تِلْكَ الْعِصَابَةِ مَنْ هُوَ أَرْضَى لِلهِ مِنْهُ فَقَدْ خَانَ اللهَ وَخَانَ رَسُولَهُ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَخَانَ [جَمِيعَ] الْمُؤْمِنِينَ " .
أَخْرَجَهُ الْحَاكِمُ مِنْ طَرِيقِ ابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ .
أَخْرَجَهُ الْحَاكِمُ مِنْ طَرِيقِ ابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever appoints a man in charge of a group of people while in that group there is someone more pleasing (and more fit) to Allah Almighty than him, has certainly betrayed Allah Almighty, His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and all the believers."
Imam al-Hakim (may Allah have mercy on him) recorded it by way of Ibn Lahi'ah, from Yazid bin Abi Habib, from Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him).
