It is narrated from Ibn Buraydah that when (during a journey) Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) forbade the people to light fires, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) (complaining): "Do you not see what this man is doing to the people? He is keeping them from what they need and benefit from." Upon this Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Leave him be, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed him as commander over us only because of his skill and knowledge in warfare."
This is munqati' (this narration has a broken chain).
