قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ الْعَبَّاسُ إِلَى عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْطَعَنِي الْبَحْرَيْنَ ، فَقَالَ : مَنْ شَهِدَ لَكَ ؟ فَقَالَ : الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) granted me the territory of Bahrain as a land grant." At that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "Who bears witness to this in your favour?" He said: "Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him)." Then he narrated the complete hadith; and there is a break (inqita') in the chain of this report.
