قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ ، ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ مِخْرَاقٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ قُرَّةَ - أَوْ قُرَّةَ ، شَكَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ - أَنَّهُ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : ثَلَاثٌ مِنْ نَعِيمِ الدُّنْيَا ، وَإِنْ كَانَ لَا نَعِيمَ لَهَا : مَرْكَبٌ وَطِيءٌ ، وَالْمَرْأَةُ الصَّالِحَةُ ، وَالْمَنْزِلُ الْوَاسِعُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Qurrah or Qurrah (may Allah be pleased with him) (and the narrator Abu Bakr was in doubt about his name) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Three things are among the blessings of the world, even though the reality is that there is no lasting blessing in the world: a comfortable mount, a righteous wife, and a wide and spacious house."
According to the scholars of hadith, the purpose of this saying is to point out the means of comfort that make human life pleasant; however, by attributing them to the world, the reality of their being temporary has also been made clear, so that a person does not lose himself in them and become heedless of the Hereafter.
