It is narrated from Abdullah bin Shaddad (may Allah have mercy on him) that a woman confessed to fornication (zina) in the court of the Commander of the Believers, Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him). So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sent Sayyiduna Abu Waqid (may Allah be pleased with him) to her with this message: "If you retract this confession of yours (that is, change your statement), we will let you go." But the woman flatly refused (to withdraw her confession), so Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had her stoned (in accordance with the Shari'ah rule).
