وَقَالَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ وَأَبُو عُبَيْدٍ كِلَاهُمَا : عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ جُدْعَانَ ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ مُحْرِزٍ قَالَ : خَطَبَنَا الْأَشْعَرِيُّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ عَلَى مِنْبَرِ الْبَصْرَةِ ، فَقَالَ : أَلَا إِنَّ الْخَمْرَ الَّتِي حُرِّمَتْ بِالْمَدِينَةِ : خَلِيطُ الْبُسْرِ وَالتَّمْرِ .
Safwan bin Muhriz states that Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), addressing us from the pulpit of Basrah, said: "Take heed! Indeed, the wine that was made unlawful in Madinah (by the command of Allah) is the mixture of unripe and dried dates."
