قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ جُوَيْرِيَةُ بِنْتُ الْحَارِثِ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّ أَزْوَاجَكَ يَفْخَرْنَ عَلَيَّ ، يَقُلْنَ : لَمْ يَتَزَوَّجْكِ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِنَّمَا أَنْتِ مِلْكُ يَمِينٍ ! فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَلَمْ أُعْظِمْ صَدَاقَكِ ؟ أَلَمْ أُعْتِقْ أَرْبَعِينَ مِنْ قَوْمِكِ ؟ " .
It is narrated from Sayyidah Juwayriyah bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): Your (other) wives boast over me, saying that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not formally marry you, rather you are merely a slave woman! So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Did I not make your dowry great? And did I not free forty of your people (for your sake)?"
