مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ ، عَنْ مَنْ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ جَعَلَ شَيْئًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ تَعَالَى ، أَيَصْرِفُهُ إِلَى غَيْرِهِ ؟ قَالَ : أَفْضِهِ حَيْثُ جَعَلَهُ صَاحِبُهُ . قَالَ : مَا وَاللهِ ، مَا سَبِيلُ اللهِ أَنْ يَضْرِبَ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ .
It is reported from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he was asked about a man who had dedicated something in the way of Allah Almighty: may he use it for another purpose? He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Spend it where its owner designated it." He (may Allah be pleased with him) also said: "By Allah! The way of Allah (fi sabil Allah) is not that you start striking one another's necks."
