It is narrated from Imam Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) that he heard a man in the mosque of Kufah saying: "On the day Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) gave his judgement concerning Banu Qurayzah, I was a boy at that time. The people had doubts about whether I had reached puberty, but when they saw that the razor had not yet passed over me (i.e. the signs of puberty had not appeared), I was allowed to live instead of being killed." And, if Allah Almighty wills, in the chapter on the prescribed punishment for theft, mention will come of those scholars who considered a height of six spans to be the criterion of puberty.
