Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibril (peace be upon him) came to Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and took him to Mina. There he led him in all the prayers, then he led him in the Fajr prayer, and then he took him to Arafat and made him halt where the people halt. Then he led him there in the two prayers (Zuhr and Asr) together. Then he brought him to the place of standing (wuquf), until, when it was the earliest time at which anyone might pray Maghrib, he departed from there and brought him to 'Jam'' (Muzdalifah). There he led him in the two Isha prayers (Maghrib and Isha) together. Then he spent the night there, until, when it was the earliest time for the Fajr prayer, he led him in Fajr. Then he stood there (in wuquf) until, when it was the latest (most delayed) time at which anyone prays, he set off with him towards Mina. There he stoned the Jamrah, then he offered the sacrifice and shaved his head, after which he set off for Tawaf al-Ifadah. Then, after that, Allah Almighty revealed to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): 'Follow the way of Ibrahim, inclining to truth' [Al-Nahl: 123], that is, follow the way of Ibrahim, who turned away from every falsehood and devoted himself to the One Allah."
According to the narration of Imam Ahmad bin Mani', Ibn Abi Mulaykah narrates that a man from Quraysh said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both): "I am weak in terms of family and means of transport, and our only mounts are these slow-moving donkeys. So may I depart from Muzdalifah while it is still night?" He replied: "As for Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him), he spent the night in Mina, until, when morning came and the edge of the sun appeared, he set out for Arafat and stopped at a place there. Then, after midday, he performed the standing (wuquf), until, when the sun had set, he departed from there, and when he reached Muzdalifah he stayed there. Then, when it was the earliest time of the Fajr prayer, he stood (in wuquf) until, when it had become fully light, he departed from there. This, then, is the way of Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was commanded to follow it."
Imam Abu Ya'la has also recorded a narration with the same meaning through his own chain, while the narration of Ibn Abi Umar further states explicitly that Jibril (peace be upon him) performed the ifadah (departure) with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) until he reached Muzdalifah and spent the night there. Then he prayed Fajr at the earliest time at which the Muslims pray it, then, after a long standing, he set off towards Mina and offered the sacrifice there. Then Allah Almighty sent down the revelation: "Then We revealed to you: Follow the way of Ibrahim, inclining to truth" [Al-Nahl: 123], that is, "Then We revealed to you that you should follow the way of Ibrahim, who was single-minded (a Muslim)."
