It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he stood at an inner entrance door of the mosque of Mina, praised and glorified Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and then addressed (the people), saying: "These people are nothing but slaves of disbelievers and sinners. It has become hard for them to come here (in peace) every year, so they steal our property and tie up our slaves. Indeed, Allah Almighty has made their blood and their property lawful for the very reason that they deemed our blood and our property permissible." He also said: "I sent (word) to them, and they returned everything that was demanded of them. So here are your camels and saddles; separate them, and whatever you recognise, take it. But I am not of the opinion that anyone's blood should be shed in the Sanctuary of Allah." Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage: "Which city is the most sacred?" It was said: Makkah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Which month is the most sacred?" It was said: Dhu al-Hijjah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Which day is the most sacred?" It was said: The day of the Greater Hajj. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, your blood and your property are sacred and inviolable to you, until you meet your Lord, just as the sanctity of this day of yours, in this city of yours, in this month of yours."
The group mentioned in these words refers to Najdah bin Amir, the Kharijite, and his followers.
