وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ ، ثَنَا حُدَيْجُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ الْقَمَرَ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ كَأَنَّهُ شِقُّ جَفْنَةٍ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I saw the moon on the Night of Decree, and it appeared as though it were a piece of a large bowl."
Imam Abu Ya'la narrated this hadith in his Musnad; it mentions this particular shape of the moon, observed on this blessed night, as one of the visible signs of the Night of Decree.
