وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا صَامَ يَوْمًا تَطَوُّعًا ، ثُمَّ أُعْطِيَ مِلْءَ الْأَرْضِ ذَهَبًا ، لَمْ يَسْتَوْفِ ثَوَابَهُ دُونَ الْحِسَابِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a man were to keep a single voluntary fast for the pleasure of Allah, and then he were given in recompense the whole earth's fill of gold, he would still not receive its reward in full before the reward of the Day of Reckoning."
