It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him): the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever does not give thanks for a little does not give thanks for much, and whoever is not grateful to people does not thank Allah Almighty either. Speaking of the blessing of Allah Almighty is gratitude, and abandoning it (that is, not speaking of it) is ingratitude. Staying together is mercy, and division is punishment."
Abdullah recorded it. Abu Abd al-Rahman, who transmitted it from al-Sha'bi, I do not know; its remaining narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A beggar came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be given a date. That man did not take the date, or (the narrator is unsure) he flung it away. The narrator says: Then another beggar came, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be given a date. He said: "Subhan Allah! A date from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!" The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a slave-girl: "Go to Umm Salamah and tell her to give this poor man the 40 dirhams she has with her."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Imarah bin Zadhan: a group declared him thiqah (trustworthy), while al-Daraqutni (may Allah have mercy on him) declared him da'if (weak).
