عَنْ حُسَيْلِ بْنِ خَارِجَةَ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ قَالَ : قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ فِي جَلَبٍ أَبِيعُهُ ، فَأُتِيَ بِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : " أَجْعَلُ لَكَ عِشْرِينَ صَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ عَلَى أَنْ تَدُلَّ أَصْحَابِي عَلَى طَرِيقِ خَيْبَرَ " . فَفَعَلْتُ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْبَرَ وَفَتَحَهَا جِئْتُ فَأَعْطَانِي الْعِشْرِينَ ، ثُمَّ أَسْلَمْتُ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ .

Sayyiduna Husayl bin Kharijah al-Ashja'i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to Madinah to sell some goods, and I was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will give you twenty sa' of dates if you guide my Companions to the road to Khaybar." The narrator says: I did so. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived at Khaybar and conquered it, I came, and he gave me the twenty sa'. Then I accepted Islam.

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ لِإِبْلِيسَ مَرَدَةٌ مِنَ الشَّيَاطِينِ يَقُولُ لَهُمْ : عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْحَاجِّ وَالْمُجَاهِدِ فَأَضِلُّوهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيلِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ نَافِعُ بْنُ هُرْمُزٍ أَبُو هُرْمُزٍ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Iblis has some rebellious devils, and Iblis says to them: 'Go after the pilgrim and the mujahid, and lead them astray from the path.'"

وَعَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ جُنْدُبَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ : هَلْ كُنْتُمْ تُسَخِّرُونَ الْعَجَمَ ؟ قَالَ : كُنَّا نُسَخِّرُهُمْ مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ إِلَى قَرْيَةٍ يَدُلُّونَا عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ ، ثُمَّ نُخَلِّيهِمْ .

Abu Imran narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Jundub bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): "Did you people press the non-Arabs into service?" He said: "We would press them into service from one town to the next so that they would guide us on the road, and then we would let them go."
