عَنْ أَبِي الْحَجَّاجِ الثُّمَالِيِّ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَقُولُ الْقَبْرُ لِلْمَيِّتِ حِينَ يُوضَعُ فِيهِ : وَيْحَكَ يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ ، مَا غَرَّكَ بِي ؟ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنِّي بَيْتُ الْفِتْنَةِ وَبَيْتُ الظُّلْمَةِ ؟ مَا غَرَّكَ إِذْ كُنْتَ تَمُرُّ بِي فَدَّادًا ؟ فَإِنْ كَانَ مُصْلِحًا أَجَابَ عَنْهُ مُجِيبُ الْقَبْرِ : أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ ؟ قَالَ : فَيَقُولُ الْقَبْرُ : إِنِّي إِذًا أَعُودَ عَلَيْهِ خَضِرًا ، أَوْ يَعُودَ جَسَدُهُ نُورًا ، وَتَصْعَدَ رُوحُهُ إِلَى رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ " .
فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عَائِذٍ : يَا أَبَا الْحَجَّاجِ ، وَمَا الْفَدَّادُ ؟ قَالَ : الَّذِي يُقَدِّمُ رِجْلًا وَيُؤَخِّرُ أُخْرَى ، كَمِشْيَتِكَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي أَحْيَانًا . قَالَ : وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَلْبَسُ وَيَتَهَيَّأُ .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، وَفِيهِ ضَعْفٌ لِاخْتِلَاطِهِ .
فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عَائِذٍ : يَا أَبَا الْحَجَّاجِ ، وَمَا الْفَدَّادُ ؟ قَالَ : الَّذِي يُقَدِّمُ رِجْلًا وَيُؤَخِّرُ أُخْرَى ، كَمِشْيَتِكَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي أَحْيَانًا . قَالَ : وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَلْبَسُ وَيَتَهَيَّأُ .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، وَفِيهِ ضَعْفٌ لِاخْتِلَاطِهِ .
Sayyiduna Abu al-Hajjaj al-Thumali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the deceased is placed in the grave, the grave says to him: 'O son of Adam, woe to you! What deluded you about me? Did you not know that I am the house of trial and the house of darkness? What deluded you when you used to pass by me as a faddad, with your voice raised?' If he was a doer of good, the one who answers for the grave's occupant will reply on his behalf: 'What do you think if this man used to enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong?'" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then the grave will say: 'In that case I will become green for him,' (the narrator is unsure whether the words were:) his body will become radiant, and his soul will ascend to the Lord of the worlds." Ibn A'idh asked him: "O Abu al-Hajjaj, what is meant by faddad?" He said: "The one who sometimes puts his foot forward and sometimes back, the way you sometimes walk, O my nephew." The narrator said: On that day he had dressed up (in fine clothes) and made himself ready.

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي جِنَازَةٍ ، فَجَلَسَ إِلَى قَبْرٍ مِنْهَا فَقَالَ : " مَا يَأْتِي عَلَى هَذَا الْقَبْرِ مِنْ يَوْمٍ إِلَّا وَهُوَ يُنَادِي بِصَوْتٍ ذَلْقٍ طَلْقِ : يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ ، كَيْفَ نَسِيتَنِي ؟ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنِّي بَيْتُ الْوَحْدَةِ ، وَبَيْتُ الْغُرْبَةِ ، وَبَيْتُ الْوَحْشَةِ ، وَبَيْتُ الدُّودِ ، وَبَيْتُ الضِّيقِ ، إِلَّا مَنْ وَسَّعَنِي اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ ؟ " . ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْقَبْرُ إِمَّا رَوْضَةٌ مِنْ رِيَاضِ الْجَنَّةِ ، أَوْ حُفْرَةٌ مِنْ حُفَرِ النَّارِ " .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We attended a funeral with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat down by a grave and said: "No day comes upon this grave except that it calls out in a loud voice: 'O son of Adam, how did you forget me? Do you not know that I am the house of loneliness, the house of being a stranger, the house of desolation, the house of worms and the house of narrowness, except for the one for whom Allah Almighty makes me spacious?'" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The grave is either one of the gardens of Paradise or one of the pits of Hell."
