Sayyiduna Amr bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a lone spy to Quraysh. He says: I came to the wooden post of Khubayb, fearing the spies as well. I climbed it and untied Khubayb, and he fell to the ground. I went a short distance away, then turned and looked, but I could not see Khubayb; it was as if the earth had swallowed him. Since then, until now, no trace of Khubayb has been seen.
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Ibrahim bin Isma'il bin Mujammi', and he is da'if (weak).
