Sayyiduna Jidar (may Allah be pleased with him), who was one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates: We took part in a battle with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When we faced the enemy, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, praised and extolled Allah Almighty, and then said: "O people! You are among green, yellow and red, and among your encampments. When you face the enemy, press forward, for whoever advances in the way of Allah, two of the wide-eyed maidens (al-hur al-'in) hasten towards him. When he attains martyrdom, then with the first drop of his blood to fall on the ground, Allah Almighty wipes away every sin of his. The two maidens wipe the dust from his face and say: 'Your time has come,' and he says: 'Your time has come too.'"
Al-Tabarani and al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, al-Abbas bin al-Fadl al-Ansari, who is da'if (weak). A narration similar to it from Yazid bin Shajarah, regarding the virtue of martyrdom, will come later.
