Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 9366

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no shighar (permitted) in Islam." (The narrator says:) Shighar is that a man marries off his sister in exchange, without any dowry; so there is no shighar in Islam, and there is no jalab and no janab either (perhaps these words are part of the hadith). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Imam Ibn Majah recorded part of this narration.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
