Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Be strict with the horse, for it is trained through strictness."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it through Ibrahim bin al-Ala' al-Zubaydi from Baqiyyah, and the narrator Baqiyyah is a mudallis. Ibn Jawsa asked Muhammad bin Awf about this hadith, and he said: I saw it on the back of Ibrahim's book, added on, and I rejected it as munkar. I spoke to him, so he abandoned it. He said that this was the work of his son, Muhammad bin Ibrahim, who used to level out (the chains of) hadith; as for his father, he is an elder against whom no accusation has been made. Abu Hatim said about him that he is saduq (truthful), and Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
