وَعَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سُرَاقَةَ قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ أَبَا قَتَادَةَ وَأَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ وَابْنَ عُمَرَ وَأَبَا أُسَيْدٍ يَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْنَا وَنَحْنُ فِي الْكِتَابِ نَجِدُ مِنْهُمْ رِيحَ الْعَنْبَرِ وَيُصَفِّرُونَ لِحَاهُمْ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Uthman bin Abdullah bin Suraqah narrates: I saw Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Sayyiduna Abu Usayd (may Allah be pleased with him) passing by us while we were at the kuttab (elementary school). We noticed the scent of ambergris from them, and they had dyed their beards yellow.
