وَعَنْ أَبِي عُشَّانَةَ أَنَّهُ رَأَى عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ يُخَضِّبُ بِالسَّوَادِ ، وَيَقُولُ : نُسَوِّدُ أَعْلَاهَا وَتَأْبَى أُصُولُهَا .
قَالَ : وَكَانَ شَاعِرًا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ ، خَلَا أَبَا عُشَّانَةَ ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ .

Abu Ushshanah narrates that he saw Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) dyeing with black, and he would say: "We blacken the top of it (that is, the hair), but its roots refuse." The narrator says: He was a poet.
