Sayyiduna Khalid bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a ring on his hand. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Khalid, what is this ring?" He said: "It is a ring that I wear." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take it off and show it to me." He said: I took it off, and it was a ring made of iron with silver on it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is engraved on it?" I said: "Muhammad Rasulullah (Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took it and put it on; this is the very ring that remained on the blessed hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Yahya bin Abd al-Hamid al-Himmani, who is da'if (weak).
