عَنْ حِبَّانَ بْنِ جَزْءٍ السَّلَمِيَّ [ عَنْ جَزْءٍ ] أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بِأَسِيرٍ كَانَ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ صَحَابَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - كَانُوا أَسَرُوهُ وَهُمْ مُشْرِكُونَ ، ثُمَّ أَسْلَمُوا فَأَتَوُا النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بِذَلِكَ الْأَسِيرِ فَكَسَا جَزْءًا بُرْدَيْنِ ، وَأَسْلَمَ جَزْءٌ عِنْدَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ : " ادْخُلْ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ تُعْطِيكَ مِنَ الْأَبْرَادِ الْتِي عِنْدَهَا بُرْدَيْنِ " فَدَخَلَ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَقَالَ : نَضَّرَكِ اللَّهُ اخْتَارِي مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأَبْرَادِ الْتِي عِنْدَكِ بُرْدَيْنِ فَإِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - كَسَانِي مِنْهَا بُرْدَيْنِ فَقَالَتْ وَمَدَّتْ سِوَاكًا مِنْ أَرَاكٍ طَوِيلًا فَقَالَتْ : خُذْ هَذَا وَخُذْ هَذَا وَكَانَ نِسَاءُ الْعَرَبِ حِينَئِذٍ لَا تُرَيْنَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَفِيهِ جَمَاعَةٌ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .

Sayyiduna Hibban bin Jaz' al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this account of Sayyiduna Jaz' (may Allah be pleased with him): He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bringing a captive who was with him, and who was a Companion; (this was when) they were polytheists, and they had taken him captive. Then they became Muslims, and they came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bringing that captive. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave Sayyiduna Jaz' (may Allah be pleased with him) two cloaks, and Sayyiduna Jaz' (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go to Aishah! She will give you two of the cloaks she has. That man went to the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and said: May Allah keep you happy! Choose two cloaks for me from the cloaks you have, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has given me two of them to wear. The narrator says: Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was holding a long miswak of arak wood; extending it, she said: Take this one and take this one! In those days the women of the Arabs were not seen (that is, they used to observe hijab).
