Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 8384

Tariq bin Shihab narrates: A man saw another man who was suffering from scrofula (swellings of the neck). He said: Had he not taken a pledge from me, I would have told you a narration. News of this reached Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), so he met that man and said: Narrate it. He said: He took a pledge from me that I would not narrate it to anyone. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: It was not proper for him to take a pledge from you. Expiate your oath and narrate it. He said: Take the urine of camels that graze on arak and cook it until it thickens, then drink it. Then take arak leaves, crush them and sprinkle them over it. The man did so, and he recovered.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Abd al-Rahman bin Abdullah al-Mas'udi, who is thiqah (trustworthy), but he suffered from mental confusion (ikhtilat). The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
