Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) conquered Khaybar, the people came upon some donkeys. The people plundered them, until their meat began cooking in the pots. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came, and it was said: "The people have slaughtered donkeys." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the meat of domestic donkeys, and the people began overturning their vessels (in which that meat was cooking) with the tips of their bows or with the poles of their tents.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Dawud bin Yasar, whom I do not know. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
