Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 7868

Habib bin Abi Thabit narrates: One of the wives of Sayyiduna Imam Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) prepared food at some place on his land. He ate, and then the food was removed. Meanwhile a slave of his came, and Imam Husayn called for the food. The slave said, "O Abu Abdullah! I do not want to eat." Imam Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "Why is that?" He said, "A little while ago we ate at the house of Sayyiduna Ubaydullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both)." Imam Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "His father was the chief of Quraysh. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'O Banu Abd al-Muttalib! Feed others and speak good words.'"
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Amr bin Thabit al-Bakri, and he is matruk (abandoned).
