وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - سُئِلَ عَنِ اللُّقَطَةِ فَقَالَ : " تُعَرَّفُ ، وَلَا تُغَيَّبُ ، وَلَا تُكْتَمُ ، فَإِنْ جَاءَ صَاحِبُهَا وَإِلَّا فَهُوَ مَالُ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about a found item, and he said: "It is to be announced; it is not to be kept hidden, nor concealed. If its owner comes, well and good; otherwise, it is the wealth of Allah, which He gives to whomever He wills."
