عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - اشْتَرَى عِيرًا قَدِمَتْ فَرَبِحَ فِيهَا أَوَاقِيَ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَتَصَدَّقَ بِهَا عَلَى أَرَامِلِ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، وَقَالَ : " لَا أَشْتَرِي شَيْئًا لَيْسَ عِنْدِي ثَمَنُهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bought a caravan that had arrived, and he made a profit of several uqiyahs of gold on it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave that amount in charity to the widows of Banu Abd al-Muttalib, and he said: I will not buy anything whose price I do not have with me.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
