Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 6431

Ziyad bin Abdullah al-Qurashi narrates: I visited Hind bint al-Muhallab bin Abi Sufrah, who was the wife of al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf. In her hand was a spindle with which she was spinning. I said to her: "Are you spinning, while you are the wife of the governor?" She said: I heard my father narrating this from my grandfather, who said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whichever of you spins the longest (thread) will receive the greatest reward."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Yazid bin Marwan al-Khallal, about whom Yahya bin Ma'in said: He is a kadhdhab (liar).
