Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 6271

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about date palms, and he said: "They are firmly rooted in the mud, and they are what is eaten in times of famine."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, al-Mu'alla bin Maymun, who is matruk (abandoned).
